The Yaletown Strings

Bio: Performing just inside the Main Entrance

The Yaletown Strings are among the most versatile and innovative players in Western Canada. This entertaining group is equally at home playing compositions of classical, jazz or pop music for your listening pleasure.

Taiwanese-Canadian harpist Dr. Joy Yeh serves as a Co-Head of the Harp Department at the Vancouver Academy of Music and the Scholarship Chair of the Vancouver Women’s Musical Society. Dr. Yeh obtained a Doctor of Music degree from Indiana University, a Masters degree from Yale University and a Bachelor degree from UBC.

She has been featured numerous times as a soloist with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra, to name a few.

Mark Ferris is a composer and Classical Jazz violinist and is the Concertmaster of the Vancouver Opera Orchestra and founding member of the Yaletown String Quartet. Mark and Joy are performing in a duo format that bridges Classical, Jazz and perhaps some Celtic music together for your listening pleasure.

We are pleased to have them performing their delightful compositions as a wonderful “welcoming” atmosphere for our attendees as they enter the Zoomershow Hall, at Canada Place.
